Preparing snacks for families with loved ones in the hospital was the task taken on by HBK IMPACT volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House Family Center in Cedar Rapids on July 31. Employees of HBK's Cedar Rapids office cut melons, prepared sandwiches, and bagged grapes, pretzels, Goldfish crackers, and carrots, for use by family center visitors. The Ronald McDonald House Family Center provides hospital visitors with a comfortable alternative to waiting rooms. The center is set up like a living room with comfortable furniture, a television, and games and activities for children. Free snacks and meals are prepared by volunteers for visitors. The center also offers a limited number of sleep rooms on a selective basis.
