HBK Engineering, LLC was responsible for the design of a new distribution main and service for a grain drying facility located in Chebanse, Illinois. The scope of the project included the design of approximately 17,200’ of 4” polyethylene main tied into an existing distribution system and the determination of a proposed running line to the new customer’s facilities. The design of the 4” service feed to the customer was also included in the design. Additionally, as a result of the increased load the new customer would require from the existing system, approximately 9,100’ of upstream main required upsizing from a 4” steel main to a 6” steel main.
Design elements of the project included a field walkdown/survey to obtain existing conditions, electronic locating (horizontal and vertical), creation of the existing background map, evaluation of an environmental investigation report and implementation of protective measures, development of field test data and proposed test sections, and an estimate of construction cost.
