HBK Engineering performed route development, engineering and construction management for three miles of two (2) 138kV XLPE underground transmission circuits, and for five miles of two (2) 345kV XLPE underground transmission circuits connecting five substations within the central business district of the City of Chicago. The project required route development, planning and creation of route certification documents, topographic surveys, composite utility base map development, conduit engineering, final design, construction estimates and schedules, permitting, public relations, construction project management, scheduling and cost control from conduit and manhole construction to cable installation and livening.

During construction, HBK provided the services of a full time project manager and project engineer. HBK was an integral part of the planning, engineering and construction of the 138kV/345kV underground transmission circuits from project inception to completion. All of the circuits were completed and livened on schedule.
