HBK was pleased to sponsor The Roundtable Live! presented by Planet Underground on September 24 in Manteno, IL. The event is the only 811 event held at an actual jobsite. Industry leading utility contractors performed tasks including pot-holing underground facilities, staging cross-bore demonstrations and installing utility lines. The critical achievement of the event has been building a communal, mutually beneficial atmosphere where end users mingle with their tool and equipment manufacturers at a jobsite. The 2020 tagline was Protect, Equip, Build.
Planet Underground was formed when Staking University, a program offering training courses for professionals to get hands-on experience, combined with the magazine Underground Focus. The magazine was founded in 1986 with a mission to help excavators and locators better understand the opportunities available to the in their role in preventing jobsite damages.
In 2001, Planet Underground was established to bring new stories of professionals to life on screen. In 2016, the magazine became American Locator to emphasize the importance of being aware of utility locations in overall damage prevention. With print, digital and video communications, Planet Underground provides new insights with events such as its annual Roundtable of experts and other unique opportunities.
