On Monday March 25th HBK joined ComEd and the Network of Exelon Women (NEW), for their Annual Women’s History Month Signature Event, “Raise Your Voice For Yourself and Others: A Candid Conversation on Mentorship at Exelon”. This year’s event focused on Exelon’s commitment to the “HeForShe” initiative, with opening remarks from ComEd CEO Joe Dominguez and Michelle Blaise, ComEd Senior Vice President Technical Services and Executive Sponsor of NEW. The panel discussion focused on the experiences of three specific mentor/mentee relationships. During the panel session, the panelists discussed their career paths and development, the importance of taking risks in order to grow your career and acquire new skill sets, and the importance of having several mentors from inside your organization as well as external networks to provide support and guidance. The session concluded with a discussion on gender equality in the workplace, including opportunities being made at all levels in the organizations, creating an inclusive work culture and developing the next generation of female leaders. Jie Chu, Billing Manager at ComEd and NEW Board President, provided closing remarks on her experiences and stated not to be afraid to raise your voice and seek mentorship as this made a difference in her life.
