HBK’s LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group Empower hosted a panel discussion on “Building an Inclusive Climate in the Workplace.” Presenters were Moanica Caston, Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion for Quanta Services, Inc., Kenneth D. Upton, Jr., Sr. Litigation Counsel for Americans United for Separation of Church & State, Erin Perone, Sr. Human Resources Manager for HBK Engineering, and Gabrielle Sims, Project Manager of Digital Solutions for the Gas Technology Institute. Empower President Camden Breeding moderated the virtual event. About 60 people attended and included guests from other Quanta Operating Units.

A takeaway from the discussion is that a business problem exists when a discriminatory situation is let to linger. The goal is zero tolerance. Employees should speak to someone- a colleague, manager, or HR, if they encounter a situation that makes them feel uncomfortable so it may be addressed.

Future Empower events are planned for October and November. Watch your email for more information.
