We were happy to invite 3 of the Power Up participants to the Chicago Carroll office for Job Shadow Day. The students got to meet with different teams and various members of leadership to learn all about HBK: what we do, who we are, and how they might fit into the Engineering industry!
Our team in Lake Mary enjoyed a lovely day to be outside and help restore and plant native plants with the Seminole Education, Restoration & Volunteer (SERV) Program. Their efforts working alongside a team of volunteers will help improve water quality and wildlife habitat in the local lakes and ponds.
Our volunteers in Iowa were grateful to join Open Heartland and help out by packing backpacks, sorting donated clothes, and organizing the community center. We're grateful that their efforts will help Open Heartland continue to support Latinx immigrant families and children in Johnson County.
Our team enjoyed a fun-filled evening at the Stars, Stripes, & Cow Chili Cook-Off fundraising event. They got to dive into a plethora of Chili tasting, enjoy good music, interact with animals, and more, all supporting Baltimore Stations' various programs that support homeless veterans.
We enjoyed another excellent event for the Power Up Academy. ComEd moderated a thoughtful discussion, and students asked great questions for the HR Panel which was filled with different HR representatives from participating companies. We then went into a round of speed-networking where students came to HBK's table to learn more about life at HBK and complete a 7-minute mock interview with our HR team. It has been an incredible program and a great experience seeing the students learn. We're glad to be a part of a program that will bring new talent to the industry!
We were grateful to be invited by the Quanta team to beautify the Edgewater Dog Park in partnership with the Chicago Conservation Corps. Our team of HBKers joined Quanta and members of the local community to makeover and mulch the entire dog park, working together so that the community and its pets can enjoy.
Hosted by our amazing GIS team, we got together nationwide for a virtual lunch and learn in celebration of GIS Day. It was great to hear a thoughtful discussion, hearing from multiple teams about how GIS has already benefited their projects, and test our minds with some fun trivia throughout the lunch & learn!
This year, Mercy Homes debuted a new event, The Lux Gala! Held at The Old Post Offices, The Lux Gala was Mercy Home's largest fundraiser, filled with 650 of Chicago's most influential decision-makers who were entertained by aerialists, immersive entertainments, charitable gaming, raffles, live and silent auctions, elevated dining, dancing, and more. Our HBKers were grateful to join as volunteers, helping support during auctions and raffles, and then proceeded to join the rest of the attendees and embrace a fun celebration for Mercy Homes.
A group of HBKers were grateful to attend the Florida Section American Waterworks Association fall conference themed Resiliency, Protecting our Legacies.
At HBK, we are proud to prioritize our employees. For the first time, we hosted an HBK Health Fair at our Chicago-Carroll office for employees to learn more about their benefits directly with vendors, and participate in free biometric screening and an InBody DEXA scan with our Quanta team.
