In honor of American Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month, HBK was grateful to support Joey's Wings for the first time. Our team came together nationwide for a virtual activity learning the history and importance of the art of origami, the significance of the paper crane and Joey's Wings, and its awareness campaign, Cranes for a Cure. Together, each person made their own paper crane. In the end, because of the wonderful participation from our employees, we donated to Joey's Wings in support of its mission to raise awareness about childhood cancer, fund research into kidney cancer affecting children and young adults, and provide support to all those affected.
A long-time favorite volunteering event, our Philadelphia and Norristown volunteers were excited to be back with Schuylkill Banks and join a river clean up. Located just steps away from HBK's Philadelphia office, our teams got together to help with anything from mulching and planting to weeding and trash pickup. It was an exciting day for team building and giving back to the surrounding community where we live and work.
HBK was extremely excited to join NFTE's Midwest Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge. Presented by EY, Horizon, Ingredion and Slalom with signature support from GSTV and associate support from the Citi Foundation , this signature event featured the top teen finalists presenting their unique business plans to a distinguished panel of judges. Additionally, one of the students from HBK's classroom was selected to participate in a fast-pitch competition and practice sharing his idea as his road to nationals begins and he gears up for the National Competition in New York City.
HBK was pleased to sponsor and attend the Associate Board of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls at their 15th annual fundraising gala, Have Mercy! Have Mercy! brings together leading young professionals for a night of dancing and entertainment. Our team enjoyed a fantastic event featuring live music, hors-d’oeuvres, drinks and dancing, an exciting auction, and raffle items – all in the beautiful Theater on the Lake setting.
