Two of our HBKers were grateful to join this year's MIT Energy Conference to be among fellow innovative industry professionals and engage in exciting keynotes and panels, network with peers, students, and fellow companies, and enjoy the Energy & Climate Tech Showcase.
One of or many awesome events to celebrate National Volunteer Week was with the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois. Our Iowa City volunteers got together to prep a meal for families at RMH! The team had fun in the kitchen and were grateful for the opportunity to give back.
The RMHC is an incredible nationwide nonprofit that supports families and exists so families can get better together. They enable families to stay close to their hospitalized child to better support the child's health and well-being while also saving families more than $9 million in hotel and food costs each year.
In celebration of National Volunteer Week our Chicagoland volunteers came together from our Van Buren, Carroll and Oak Brook offices to assist with making toys for some furry friends with The Anti-Cruelty Society (ACS). Our team also learned about all the wonderful ways ACS supports pets in all situations.
The Anti-Cruelty Society is more than a shelter. We are a comprehensive animal welfare organization whose mission is to build a community of caring by helping pets and educating people. From our humble beginnings in 1899, we are now at the forefront of animal welfare and humane education. From our open door philosophy to our commitment to find a home for every adoptable animal we provide compassionate care for any animal in need.
It is always a good time with the OK Food Bank. Our Tulsa team continues to enjoy supporting their local communities and neighbors by volunteering their time at the OK Food Bank and support its mission to end hunger throughout the state by expanding services and quadrupling the amount of food distributed. They work daily with the community, local farmers, and partners to get families the food they need.
After a full semester and three sessions, this year's program with NFTE has come to to a close. Our nationwide volunteers virtually gathered one last time for the final stage with NFTE. After ideation and development, marketing, and finances, this session was about prepping for the students to present their business ideas in their first NFTE competition. Students got to walk through their business idea in full, from conception and research to final spending and an implementation strategy. From there, our volunteers were able to help them iron out the finishing touches on their presentation giving tips on how to weave in their personal stories, be confident and of course, have fun in the process.
HBK was pleased to join ACE's Building Futures Annual Fundraiser hosted at Morgan Manufacturing for a cocktail reception in celebration of all the fantastic work ACE has done. It was a fun night to be among colleagues and fellow ACE supporters and HBK is proud to continuously support ACE and its mission of creating pathways for young people to explore building industry careers. Now, more than ever, ACE appreciates the support to mentor hundreds of diverse and talented youth, award generous college scholarships, and provide work opportunities that introduce youth to career opportunities in Architecture, Construction, and Engineering.
Our HBK employees in Lake Mary are back for another event with Clean the World! Last year, they enjoyed gathering in the office to assemble hygiene kits for the non-profit organization Clean the World. This time around, our group headed out to the Clean the World's warehouse in Orlando to assemble even more kits! The kits included toothbrushes, soap and toothpaste for distribution to needy individuals through non-profit organizations promoting health and welfare.
Our volunteers from The Woodlands office returned to The Abundant Harvest for another shift to support their mission to feed the body, nourish the soul, and transform the community. This time, they joined the Pantry Truck Organizing Team and got to work receiving goods and organizing the warehouse for the food pantry!
We were thrilled to join Chicago Commons at their Annual Spring Luncheon alongside 300 of Chicago’s business, philanthropy, and community leaders. It was a great time to celebrate how Chicago Commons programs and services empower children, adults, and seniors to thrive across generations. HBK is proud to continuously support its mission of empowering individuals, families, and communities. Additionally, we were beyond honored to have HBK President Eric Bergstrom speak and accept the Lea Taylor Philanthropy Award for HBK Engineering.
We were very excited to join the Baltimore Station for the first time. Our volunteers from the Baltimore office came together to cook and serve a delicious meal to veterans. HBK is proud to support its mission to turn lives around as an innovative therapeutic residential and outpatient treatment program that supports veterans overcoming obstacles and on the path to regaining self-sufficiency.
