HBK Engineering, LLC was ranked in the Engineering News-Record (ENR) 2022 Top 500 Design Firms Sourcebook. The Top 500 Design Firms list, published annually, ranks the 500 largest U.S.-based design firms, both publicly and privately held, based on design-specific revenue. Companies are ranked based on revenue for design services performed in 2021.

HBK ranked #166 overall (#294 in 2021) and #15 in Telecom (#32 in 2021).

Loyalty Day Parade

HBK was pleased to support a group of Cub Scouts marching in the 42nd Annual William A. Athans & 18th District VFW Post’s Loyalty Day Parade in New Lenox, IL. Organizers say the parade is a celebration of our country, our flag and all those who have served or currently serve in our Armed Forces. The Cub Scout troop, comprised of boys and girls in Kindergarten to 5th grade, joined local businesses in the New Lenox community for the event which returned after being cancelled last year due to Covid. The scouts had a ball tossing swag, provided by HBK, to attendees along the route.
 

Locator Week

HBK locators in Chicago, Oak Brook, Oak Creek, Warwick, and Baltimore were treated with a small token of appreciation during Locator Week. HBK Senior Executives Sandra Arredondo, Eric Bergstrom, and Roger Rehayem met the Chicago/Oak Brook locators in the field to give a personal thank you for taking on this challenging work and for contributing to the safety of worksites and our communities. In Wisconsin, Oak Creek locators also met for an appreciation event. On the East Coast, Senior Vice President Bill Mulligan met with the Warwick, Rhode Island locators while Division Manager Aaron Harris and the Baltimore locators partnered with BG&E for an appreciation event there. Thanks to our locators for doing an excellent job!

Chicago Commons Spring Luncheon

HBK supported Chicago Commons by sponsoring the first Annual Spring Luncheon for Commons. The event theme was “Empowering. Building. Thriving.” Congratulations to honorees William O’Malley and John Burns Construction Company, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth. Chicago Commons’ mission is empowering individuals, families, and communities to overcome poverty and systemic barriers, embrace opportunities and thrive across generations. 
 

City of Tampa Black History Committee Golf Tournament

HBK was pleased to support the City of Tampa Black History Committee Golf Tournament. The 2022 COTBHC Scholarship Awards provides scholarships to outstanding high school graduates before they head off to the college or university of their choice. The City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. is a 501©3 organization, consisting of dedicated men and women who volunteer their time to focus on the continuing education of African American history and provide a legacy of education through annual scholarship awards. The group is committed to serving the communities of the greater Tampa Bay area. 
 

38th Annual Red Shoe Run & Walk 5K

HBKers in the Iowa City office participated in the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois 38th Annual Red Shoe Run & Walk 5K. We joined almost 600 participants to raise awareness and money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The organization is committed to providing services that directly improve the health and well-being of children, while providing a community of comfort and support for families seeking medical care for a child.
 

Paulo Freire Family Center

HBK joined Chicago Commons to clean up the Paulo Freire Family Center in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood. The group helped with overdue painting and revamping the mulch areas for the kids in the playground as well as around the building parameters, painted doors and worked on landscaping the grounds to make the center’s exterior ready for summer.
 

National Museum of Mexican Art Gala

HBK was pleased to support the National Museum of Mexican Art Gala at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel. Themed Haz Magia, Make Magic, the black-tie evening included an address from Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. Honored were Adela Cepeda of BMO Harris Bank for her significant contributions in leadership in the Latino community and the City of Chicago, and Diana Palomar of ABC 7 Chicago for her long-standing support of the museum.
 

Aon Step Up for Kids

HBK was pleased to support the 25th Annual Aon Step Up for Kids to benefit Ann & Robert H. Lurie Chiildren’s Hospital of Chicago at Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox. Over 900 moms, dads, families, and friends of children who have been cared for at the hospital turned out on a rainy Saturday afternoon to climb or run the stadium stairs and raise funds. Fortunately, the showers subsided for the few hours of the event. After the climb, all were welcomed for a celebration with music, hot dogs, and ice cream on the stadium concourse.

Chicago Metro APWA Expo and Roadeo

HBK employees Bethany Turk and Anthony D’Angelo presented on Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Locating & Utility Coordination for Transportation Improvements at the Chicago Metro American Public Works Association (APWA) Expo and Roadeo while others helped coordinate a skills competition of large machinery including snowplows. The annual two-day event is an opportunity for networking, education, and fun for members of the industry.
