HBK presented a virtual panel discussion called “The Future of Engineering" on February 26th to wrap up Engineers Week. In this discussion, a panel of HBK employees spoke on topics including emerging fields in engineering, the importance of cross-functional teams, the impact of diversity on strong teams, and the defining characteristics that make a great team member.
HBK supported the Girls in the Game 26th Anniversary Field of Dreams Virtual Gala on February 26th. The event showcased honorees, both girls and adults, who bring Girl’s in the Game’s mission to life every day by exemplifying the four pillars of its mission: sports, health, leadership, and life. Since 1995, Girls in the Game has connected over 50,000 girls with their peers and adult role models to see the opportunities that lie ahead for them, use their voices, and grow as leaders.
ComEd’s Construction Jobs Educational Program, “CONSTRUCT”, hosted the HR Overview session on March 5th. HBK Recruitment Lead Alexandra Jones spoke about ways for job candidates to succeed in the interview process. HBK Utility Locator Rashad Berry, a CONSTRUCT alum, discussed how the program prepared him to interview and to succeed in his position.
HBK was pleased to support the Erie House Future of Promise Virtual Event on March 11th. The evening’s honorees were the American Medical Association, Cigna and Carole Robertson Center for Learning.
HBK was pleased to support Special Olympics Chicago and the ComEd Coolers for its 10th Anniversary Polar Plunge! The HBrrK Team raised more than $600 for the cause. Because participants were not able to plunge into Lake Michigan due to COVID, HBKers Andrea Ramirez and Deb Bukovy chose to be dunked at their homes.
ComEd’s CONSTRUCT Infrastructure Academy hosted a virtual Engineering Overview session on March 15th presented by HBK Division Lead Dan Rest. He discussed engineering and problem solving, how utilities engineering is used every day, and shared visuals of HBK engineers, surveyors, and locators at work.
Several HBKers participated in the Women's Energy Network (WEN) Alice’s Table Social Event on March 18th. The virtual event brought WEN members together to create floral arrangements with directions from Alice’s Table, a small female-led business.
