HBK was pleased to sponsor Lifting Gear Hire's Family Fun Day in Support of Transplant Village on September 8. The event included memorable activities such as laser tag, miniature golf and go cart racing at Haunted Trails Family Entertainment Center in Joliet. Proceeds benefit the Northwestern Medicine Transplant Advisory Council (NMTAC) which is comprised of people who have had life-changing experiences with Northwestern Medicine’s Comprehensive Transplant Center (CTC).
HBK supported the Organization of Latinos at Exelon (OLE) through a hole sponsorship and participation at the 17th Annual OLE Golf Outing on September 7 at Ruffled Feathers Golf Course in Lemont. The event is OLE's annual fundraiser and the proceeds raised are used to provide scholarships to Latino college-bound students.
HBK sponsored the 12th Annual Norwood Park Historical Society Stems and Steins fundraiser on September 6. The annual event attracts more than 300 people with all donations and net proceeds supporting the historical society's effort to preserve Chicago's oldest house, the Noble-Seymour-Crippen House, and its museum and archives.
HBK supported the ninth annual Sterling Bay Benefit Bash for Misericordia September 12 at the Fremont. Misericordia aids individuals with developmental disabilities in maximizing their level of independence and self-determination. The local non-profit helps over 650 children and adults from diverse ethnic, racial, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds, with disabilities ranging from mild or moderate to severe and profound. Programs include residential options, job training and placement, an array of therapies, fitness and health guidance, social and recreational activities and opportunities for spiritual growth.
HBK was pleased to support the Butterfield Golf Classic at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club on September 13. Proceeds benefit the Butterfield Park District's Butterfield Preservation Foundation, and will go towards scholarships for high risk children, playgrounds and play equipment, transportation and field trips, and before and after school programs.
On Wednesday, September 18, HBK was pleased to be a sponsor of the ComEd Distribution Operations & El Valor Golf Outing at Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park, IL. From its founding in 1973 by Guadalupe Reyes and a group of Pilsen mothers, El Valor has become a leader in providing outstanding dual language early childhood education, and programming and housing for individuals with disabilities. El Valor helps bridge the socio-economic disparities for more than 4,000 Chicagoland families each year.
HBK participated in the 2019 American Heart Association Metro Chicago Heart Walk on September 20. The team walked with ComEd and raised funds toward the overall goal of $4.5 million. The American Heart Association aims to fight heart attacks, cardiovascular disease and strokes.
HBK was pleased to support the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) Annual Luncheon on September 19. The luncheon featured a keynote presentation by MacArthur Genius and Harvard Professor Raj Chetty. He recently examined U.S. economic mobility patterns and found that children's earliest experiences - from their kindergarten teachers to their neighborhoods - unlock advancement. During the luncheon, MPC recognized John W. Rowe, Chairman Emeritus, Exelon Corporation with the Champion Fighter Award. The honor is bestowed to those who have made extraordinary civic contributions to the Chicago region, which is embodied by John's transformative leadership and philanthropy.
