Electrical Engineering

HBK offers a wide range of engineering design services utilizing AC voltage system requirements from 120V to 230kV substation installations, DC battery and UPS power systems. Our Electrical design team has extensive knowledge and experience with the ComEd (Commonwealth Edison) system and its associated design parameters, commercial power and distribution system requirements, power generation and substation facilities.

Electrical Engineering Experience:

Herbert BergHerbert Berg
Mr. Berg has over 27 years of engineering design experience including Project Management, Lead Project Engineer responsibilities and has been trained via U.S. government "Sandia Labs" RAMD to assess facility vulnerability to terrorist actions. Mr. Berg also has extensive experience in electrical systems design, including power and control distribution to project equipment, lighting, raceway, security systems and scheduling. His experience has been on telecommunication system connection, development and routing within key underground facilities within the City of Chicago’s infrastructure, electrical system design for hydroelectric facilities, water and waste water pumping stations, industrial power distribution systems and navigation type lock and dams.
Mr. Berg has experience with Windows-based computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Access and experience with Microstation and Autocad CADD systems.

Stevenson DurningStevenson Durning
Mr. Durning has 13 years of experience in the design of electrical systems including, medium voltage (12kV) electrical distribution facilities and their associated equipment. Facilities include circuit switching protection from utility feeders, transformers, and switchgear. His experience also includes the design and project management of "Summer Preparedness" assignments which enhance the reliability of the electrical utility’s system. Mr. Durning has also served as Project Manager for large Commercial and Industrial design projects and is responsible for the design of installation/modifications to distribution electrical facilities, which includes the evaluation of distribution system designs created by outside resources. Mr. Durning has experience with windows-based computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Access, GIS based design tools, and Commonwealth Edison’s database management software, "Passport".
