Construction Management

ComEd West Loop 138kV and 345kV Underground Transmission Infrastructure 300 N. LaSalle
With this project, HBK is in the final stages of successfully completing the engineering/ construction management of the largest and most complex transmission project to date in Commonwealth Edison’s history. Our role in this project was the design of over eight miles of 138/345kV electrical underground ductbank in the streets of the City of Chicago. In conjunction with this project, HBK also assisted in the civil site development for five (5) substations, counter poise routing for EMF mitigation, transmission pole and associated caisson placement and construction observation.

CTA/Block 37
HBK performed engineering consulting services in connection with the design and permitting of exploratory excavations to facilitate the design and installation of earth retention systems and utility relocations for the Block 37 subway tunnel connections in Chicago, Illinois for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). HBK performed the following activities relating to this project:

• Developed utility test hole permit drawings
• Surveyed utilities during test hole operation
• Developed quality level A composite utility base drawings recording the top and bottom elevation, size, location and general conditions of utilities
• Prepared traffic control drawings for the utility test hole work in conformance with MUTCD and local laws and regulations
• Secured all permits required for the work
• Developed design drawings for hanging and relocating utilities
