John W. Jerak, J.D.
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Mr. Jerak serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at HBK. Mr. Jerak is responsible for leading HBK's engineering team for legal, government relations, corporate development and new business development (strategic partnerships and licensing opportunities).

Prior to joining HBK, Mr. Jerak represented and provided general counsel to individuals, entrepreneurs and domestic corporations. In private practice, Mr. Jerak's focus was on the creation and modification of business relationships. His legal work comprises issue analysis and risk management in contracts, litigation alternatives and general business practices. Consulting engagements have included general project management and situational issues in strategic planning, corporate development, start-ups and acquisitions.

Mr. Jerak served as an operating principal in a newly formed financial products company that developed short-term investment and cross-sector risk arbitrage products for middle market public taxing bodies and not-for-profit organizations. He has held line, management and staff positions with Burroughs Corporation (Systems Engineering), Standard Oil Company of Indiana (Corporate Systems Planning), The Grace Commission (Project Management - Housing and Urban Development) and the First National Bank of Chicago (Computer Operations, Product Management, Corporate Development and Investment Banking).

In addition to graduate studies in computer science (University of Chicago, Department of Computer Sciences), financial services law (IIT Kent Law School) and global markets and trading (IIT Stuart School of Business), Mr. Jerak holds degrees from the University of Illinois (B.A.- Psychology), DePaul University College of Law (J.D.), and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (M.B.A.- Finance).
